A purpose-built art and crafts village brimming with inspiration

Interested in Learning a New Art or Craft Medium?
At Cedar Galleries you can turn up on any Friday for informal tutoring at your own pace in sculpture, mosaic, weaving and spinning.  The tutors in each group will get you started and have materials and equipment ready for you to use.  So you can learn the medium before you need to start investing in equipment.  You'll pay $5 per session to Cedar Galleries for the day for use of the studios and facilities.  Or for $20 you'll get 5 sessions on the Fridays of your choosing.  The tutors can sell you the materials you'll need at a small cost and there is a small per day tutoring cost.  But once you've learned the techniques you can just turn up on Fridays with your own project and materials, pay the $5 studio fee and unleash your creativity with a great group of people.

For a scheduled one-on-one or small group beginner classes we can put you in contact with great tutors in a range of mediums including leadlight, chalk painting and stenciling,  beading and macramé.

Studio Spaces Available to the Public
Cedar Galleries is a working art and crafts village with studio spaces available to the public suitable for creating in various mediums.  We have a painting and drawing studio, a sculpture studio, fibre and textiles studio, mosaic studio, chalk painting studio and papercrafts studio.  We also have spaces available for new mediums or even for a private hire arrangement.

The spaces are available to the public from 9am until 3pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Most artists attend on Fridays creating a vibrant and social atmosphere.  To use the spaces you need to bring your own materials and equipment (unless you're starting as a beginner in one of our groups) and come to the Café the first time so we can show you around.  The cost of enjoying our studio facilities is $5 per visit, or $20 for 5 visits. You can choose to join in with the folks already using the spaces or create a new group.

The Cedar Gallery
The Cedar Gallery with it's rustic barn exterior and high vaulted ceiling is currently our
exhibition space.  It is used to feature talented groups and individuals in our region and their exhibitions.  Spacious and air conditioned it is also currently serving as our Fibre and Textiles studio space where artists gather to do bobbin lacemaking, spinning on wheels, weaving, embroidery, crochet, knitting and patchwork.  Fibre and Textiles artists meet every Friday from 9am.  There is also a group coming on the second and fourth Saturday of the month.  There is plenty of space for wheels, looms and sewing machines.

The Mosaic studio and Papercraft studio
These adjoining spaces have evolved with the new mediums our art community adopts.  Fridays are busy with mosaic artists.  They can get you started and teach you the techniques. You just need to turn up in enclosed shoes and they can provide the rest.

The Sculpture studio

We've always had a vibrant and noisy sculpture community at Cedar Galleries.  As each new person joins in they're mentored by the tutor.  Artists are each working on their own pieces at their own pace.  You'll need enclosed shoes and enthusiasm to join in, but everything else including the hebel, limestone and tools is available here.

The Shabby Shack
The Shabby Shack is a studio for chalk painting and milk painting furniture and homewares. Learn the techniques to paint, distress and stencil your own pieces to display at home.  You're also able to purchase supplies from the Shabby Shack.

The Calliope Room
The Calliope Room is currently
the main gallery space and is used to display a changing collection of wall art pieces, sculptural pieces and restored furniture.  These works are all by artists and crafts persons from the region.

The Artist Studio
This is a multipurpose space that's used for painting, pastel work, tie dye, leadlight and a variety of other mediums.  It's a covered space with plenty of ventilation.
